Friday night we celebrated my mom's bday with some family was in town. it was nice to see them, nice to spend time with the family. also, nice to eat the loaded burgers they bought. pre-made patties that come with pieces of bacon and cheddar already in them. nom nom nom. also, red velvet cupcakes. yummy.
saturday i took a mac makeup class with gaby. i learned how to do smokey eyes in browns and spent far too much money on makeup. but i never buy makeup so i feel it's a justified splurge. now i just need to convince myself to use it more often. then we went shopping for a bit and i spent far too much money on some truly adorable clothes. a dress, a sweater, and the world's most comfortable button up shirt. i wanted more. i still want more. i wish they had an online site so i could dream-shop. le sigh. went and had a yummy salad at a place called tender greens in downtown culver city. super cute area. i've never been down there but now i really want to go see something at the kirk douglas theatre so i can wander around before/after. then went to venice so gaby could show me the canals. DID YOU KNOW THERE ARE CANALS IN VENICE??? our venice i mean. i had no ideas. There are like four all in a row and all of the houses have a kayak/canoe/paddle boat tied up outside. it was awesome, i really want to live there. Here's a picture:

Then we went to the landmark at the westside pavillion which is a truly adorable theatre. we were hoping to see a movie in one of the screening rooms, but they were only showing movies we'd already seen in there. the screening rooms are super tiny, no more than 30 seats, and it's all loveseats/couches/armchairs with tables in between. so comfortable and intimate. shown on a large screen, about the size of an entire wall. it's a delightful experience. i saw the movie adam in a screening room. but i digress. here's a picture:

we wanted to see bright star or the boys are back, and both were pretty sparse on the seating for a 7:30 show. we settled on the boys are back because bright star only had front row seating. very cute movie. the boys are adorable and excellent, clive owen is solid and attractive. i also appreciated the natural progression of things. we got out and weren't quite ready to go home so we bought tickets to the 10:10pm showing of bright star. yes, we're ridiculous. had a hurried snack of margaritas and nachos at islands before running back to bright star. we ended up being surround on all four sides by people in a theater that was 80% empty so we relocated during previews. AMAZING MOVIE. I laughed, I cried, I ran the gamut of emotions. I loved the characters. I love the cinematography. i loved everything. I left feeling so empty and heavy. Drained and overly emotional. truly excellent. i'd like to see it again but i need to recover. sigh...so beautiful.
anyway. sunday and monday were fun as well but this is long so i'll leave it here.
