Tuesday
Tuesday was the K2 romp! Huzzah! Kellie picked me up from my grandparents' house where they apparently looked at her strangely as they pulled into the garage. My mother insisted on saying hello/giving her a hug. Precious. We ventured to Denver proper and discovered that the box office Kellie was hoping to visit was only open W/F/Sat. Sad. We then wandered a bit in the car and passed a lovely park as well as the mint among other things. Eventually landed at the original chipotle where I not only got nummy food but my free shirt bitches! Kellie asked the nice gentleman (as opposed to the scary woman who kept screaming NEXT!)if we could go to the basement and he totally complied and we went through THE HOLE IN THE FLOOR (SO COOL!) to the basement where you've all seen evidence that I signed the ceiling next to Kellie and Rey. I then got my burrito wrapped free shirt and we were off after a quick phoon outside. We stopped by second spin so Kellie could expand her CO DVD collection, and after my sudafed inhalation, up to Estes Park we headed.
We visited Yogi Bear on the way up which was cool, and I got to see the Stanley for the first time. Beautiful hotel, it would be fun to stay there when the whole place is covered in snow. Let's do it! Poor room 217 had it's tag ripped off. It's a great hotel, I'd like to do the tour sometime too. We explored the main drag and obviously took the world's awesomest picture. I only wish they had had fake facial hair like we had requested. sigh. and also! the blackberry cobbler ice cream was superb. a true delight. i'd like some now please. eventually we headed out and I got to see KTP's house/room and the giant dogs who clearly did not like having me visit. Callie!/Zack!...what? god i love that story. a lot. anyway! evnetually we headed back to my gp's house and stopped at a sonic "down the street". oops. my bad. 16 blocks later...and i bid adieu to the great KTP eventually.
Wednesday
Wednesday was pretty low key. Had lunch with my mom's cousin at applebee's. as far as i can recall, that was my first trip to an applebee's. their sliders were delightful, i would totally visit again. then that night we went to my cousin meghan's house for dinner with her husband brad. they have a cute little mutt named jack who i was quite enchanted by. love the little mop-types. had a really yummy dinner of turkey tenderloin and corn ::drool:: and fondue after. so grown up. and yummy.
Thursday
My parents decided to go to Pueblo which is where my dad grew up and my grandmother still lives. There is nothing to do there, so I decided to stay home and find other amusements. My cousin Peri luckily had the day off so she and her sister Devon picked me up and we drove out to Boulder to have lunch with my other cousins Mick and Matt. Collectively, the group is pretty much my favorite in terms of cousins. But shhhhh don't tell anyone!* We had panera which is always a plus, and then Mick and Matt had to go back to work. The rest of us decided to go do the celestial seasonings tour and tasting. i bought a lot of tea. it's so cheap there! then we ended the day with our usual tradition when i come visit. that tradition started in 2005 with the release of War of the Worlds. We decided we really wanted cake before we went to the movies, but nothing was open because it was already like 10pm and there was nowhere nearby. So the geniuses that we are, we decided to just go buy a damn cake from the store. So we bought an entire black forest cake (and a tiny lemon meringue pie) and a quart of milk from the store, and smuggled it in to the theatre. we then stole utensils/napkins/cups from concessions, and ate the damn cake during the movie. we also offered it to those around us during the previews. we thought that was HILARIOUS. i don't think they did. anyway, so since there were less of us this time we bought individual cake slices (and another mini pie) and cartons of milk and saw Public Enemies. Tasty.
*A story for KTP. My cousins (these ones in particular) have elastic faces. They too make ugly ass faces and are incredibly expressive. While eating lunch, my cousins Mick and Peri both made ugly faces at the same time and i said "Have you ever noticed how our family makes really ugly faces sometimes?" and they all started cracking up and wheezing out "I know exactly what you mean" in between the laughter. So I told them about uglyface.com and for the rest of the trip, we kept shouting uglyface.com everytime someone did it. It was kind of hysterical. So whenever it gets started, my family will help :)
Friday
Friday I spent much of the day by myself. My parents weren't back from Pueblo yet and gma/gpa had a doctor's appointment around lunchtime. I watched a degrassi marathon though, so that was fun. Eventually everyone came back including my uncle leonard. he was wearing a freebie rockies fanny pack. my dad jokingly pointed to it and said "hey len, is that for your .44?" and he opens the pack and says "no, it's a .38" and fucking TAKES OUT A GUN! my dad looked shell shocked and was like "wow, i was just kidding". absolutely ridiculous. my dad and I then left to meet my gma and uncle in boulder for dinner with my cousin mick who had gotten us free tickets to the colorado shakespeare festival's "much ado about nothing" which he was in. dinner was great, play was awesome. especially because you could see lightning in the clouds but no thunder to ruin the dialogue. it was a really neat effect. afterwards, mick and i met up with peri and her fiance pat, and a couple of their friends to hit up some dive bars in boulder. pretty much got trashed and took like 40 pictures suitable for uglyface.com. met up with 2 more cousins back at mick's house and invented otter shots. poor a thawed otter pop into your shot to make it fruity delicious. worked for us! more ridiculousness ensued. didn't get home until 4:30am.
Saturday
Flew home with a headache/woobly stomach from the night before. uneventful flight home (thank god) and ended the night at my parent's house with carl's jr. and a viewing of he's just not that into you. nice to be home though, sucks to go back to work. ick.
* i just tried to save this and it said there was an error and i totally almost crapped my pants at the thought of retyping this. luckily, it still seems to be here.
